Like, quite a bit better, not even just a little
![]() 07/12/2018 at 15:53 |

i mean maybe from the front but the sides of the stock car version are boring
![]() 07/12/2018 at 15:53 |

It's because the NASCAR one has a roofline that matches the styling.
![]() 07/12/2018 at 15:57 |

yes. better greenhouse, less ugly front.
![]() 07/12/2018 at 15:58 |

then just put the “supra” stickers on the new supra, then problem solved.

I really want a return of the “usable coupe”
Everything available with 2 doors today has an impossibly small back seat.
(Well, except the Challenger, but that thing is huge...)
![]() 07/12/2018 at 16:45 |

yes, because racecar

Not a fan of the NASCAR version at all. I look at that, I don’t see “ Supra” , or even “ cool car”, I see “Monte Carlo” as much as anything.
![]() 07/12/2018 at 17:15 |

Yes because WINDOWS
![]() 07/12/2018 at 17:16 |

And by “useable coupe” we mean liftback, right?
![]() 07/12/2018 at 17:21 |

Not a necessity... but definitely preferred. (I loved the utility of my ‘86 Mustang GT.)

yes, but no.
Better, because that is a very low bar to clear.
Not MUCH better, because the NASCAR version still looks like a 3-box coupe, formed like a bar of soap for templated, tube-frame-taxicab, left-turn racing.
I wouldn’t buy a Supra that looks like either one. On looks-alone, I wouldn’t even buy a Mark IV Supra, that looked like a bloated-bar-of-soap with some Ferrari F40 traits slapped on. (front intakes, flat-bottom headlights, high-hoop wing. Side-intakes on a front-engined car... a cluster of circular tail lights...)
The respect for Mark IV Supra was all in the bulletproof and high-powered 2JZ-GTE, backed by a 6-speed manual and limited slip rear diff high-quality drivetrain.
I would rather deal with the unobtainium parts status on Mark II and Mark II Supras, that are cooler, sleeker, more lithe looking GT coupes than the mid-90s A80 Mark IV, or the new A90 Mark V Supra models.
If someone would build me a new car, 6-cylinder, mid-300s horsepower, manual or dual-clutch, rear drive. (or an MR2 successor as mid-engined), fully independent suspension that WORKS well, both for handling performance and cruising smoothly.
With a rear liftback hatch, (or a front and rear trunk, in the case of a mid-engined car), at 100$/horsepower to start. (i.e. 350hp for $35K)...
Solid, not paper-thin, but not overly complex.
Basic enough to be fundamentally good, but not so spartan that it can’t have some modern amenities that other new cars have gotten people used to, like proximity keys, LCD dash, rear view camera is now mandatory... auto-up and down windows and auto-close sunroof along with auto wipers on a rain sensor, auto headlights and high beams, optional adaptive cruise and blind-spot warnings (especially with new cars having such small windows and low visibility, with high window sills under low roof heights.)
Basically a 2k-teens decade upgrade to the Grand Touring Sport coupes, or mid-sized sports cars of the past, without the 50K+ price and 500hp+ maniacal power plants. I am glad those exist for those who want that , but I don’t need it, nor want to pay those prices.
Supra was doubtful to be at that price point, because it wasn’t as mainstream affordable as Celica and MR2 before... but when it became known that Supra was likely to be $60K+, but still under 400hp, no manual option, and “controversially styled”... I am not sure who thought that would be a grand business case.
For ~$60K and 350hp... Cayman or Boxster. At least it is impeccably finished, light weight, and absolutely sublime in terms of chassis and suspension design, and handling capability.
For $50K-90K and much more power: Corvette, Camaro SS, Mustang GT, Shelby GT350, Challenger SRT8 392... Lotus Evora 400/430, and more options start opening up, that have wider appeal to various segments of the market, than this Supra.

That’s because the Xfinity series body hasn’t been redone since the current generation car was introduced in 2010.
It’s way behind the Gen 6 Cup cars in styling, can’t wait until the eventual Gen 6 version of the Supra to replace the Camry there. That’s gonna be a sharp looking machine.

Personally, no. And it’s not because of the Supra’s styling, rather because of the fact that it’s on the Xfinity CoT, which has been around since 2010.
The series really needs to update their cars, they’ve fallen behind the Cup Series, K&N Series, and even ARCA, all of which use Gen 6 or, in the case of K&N and ARCA, Gen 6 derivatives .
When Toyota introduces the Supra on the Gen 6 body, it’ll look even better.

It’s one of the reason I love 80s sports cars, American, Japanese, or German they were all liftback or at least a liftback version was available. Or old Saabs they were nearly as versatile as a pick up with a 6ft flat load floor behind the driver, that was level with the rear bumper on top of that! Of course that’s not possible on a RWD car.

Yes. X100000000

I want sporty cars with decent visibility. This shouldn't be that hard

I like the way you think
![]() 07/12/2018 at 18:27 |

I like the greenhouse so much better on the nascar version to
![]() 07/12/2018 at 18:29 |

True, I like it though. A Monte Carlo stylized by the Japanese. I think if the trunk were more lift back it would look even better

Push rod v8 4 speed rwd Supra sounds fine to me
![]() 07/12/2018 at 18:33 |

I actually like the lines from the profile view, but I think it might look even better with a little shorter rear and more of a lift back trunk
![]() 07/12/2018 at 18:34 |

I really hate cars that have rear seats that are next to impossible to use, just get rid of them
![]() 07/12/2018 at 18:35 |

Right? The Camaro these days feels like sitting in a pillbox
![]() 07/13/2018 at 09:22 |

Plus the trunk has a laughably small opening.
It’s completely mind blowing how cramped and dim the interior is, when the car is practically the same size as a Crown Vic.
![]() 07/13/2018 at 09:30 |
|
That’s...eye opening. I didn’t even realize how b ig it really is, that’s nuts
![]() 07/13/2018 at 09:54 |

The crown vic isn’t really that big for a full sized car, nowhere near the size of the 70s boats it takes some of it’s chassis design from, but it’s definitely not a small car.
The Mustang is only a little bit smaller, but at least it doesn’t feel like you’re looking
out of a coffin. Still though, compared to the usefulness of a Foxbody or even a new hatchback, they’re both pretty pointless for anything more
than 2 people.
